Many people now know (but may not have realized it a few months ago) that PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment, and news is almost everywhere now, because we are all adapting to the new normal brought about by COVID-19.
However, what many people may not know is that ultrasonic welding and sealing systems can be used in the assembly and manufacture of PPE, such as masks, protective masks, surgical gowns and many other textile and non-woven applications.
In fact, the use of ultrasonic in PPE textile applications, such as continuous bonding or slitting; punching; insert bonding; and Velcro bonding, is actually in terms of speed, safety, cost-effectiveness and the edge of the finished product. Provides excellent performance in terms of smoothness.
For example, the ultrasonic bench press system is ideal for earring welding and plug-in sealing linear sutures up to 12 inches (320 mm), as well as driving threaded brass inserts. They can also be used to weld elastic strips to the side of a transparent protective mask or to weld multiple layers of materials around the mask.
Ultrasonic systems can be used for manual loading/unloading operations and automated applications. Welding presses can also be used for continuous sealing applications with special tools.
In addition to presses and systems, ultrasonic components are an excellent way to achieve high-speed continuous sealing when integrated into custom automated machinery. For example, a simple rotary anvil assembly can be used to transform an ultrasonic benchtop welding press into a continuous sealing ultrasonic sewing machine.
Ultrasonic kit generators can be provided to OEM system integrators, driven by the machine's PLC, as a more cost-effective way to apply ultrasonic technology.
