Ultrasonic drilling

The principle is very simple. An ultrasonic horn is used to vibrate a drillbit vertically. The drillbit can consist of nothing more than a piece of wire - I used standard household pins, which are steel and are around 0.7mm diameter. In the presence of an abrasive slurry, the pounding action of the drillbit tip causes the underlying material to chip away, gradually drilling a hole. It works best on brittle materials like glass and ceramics.

Description:

 

Ultrasonic milling is the most classic type of ultrasonic machining. The principle of ultrasonic milling: A constant stream of abrasive slurry passes between the tool and workpiece. The vibrating tool, combined with the abrasive slurry, uniformly abrades the material, leaving a precise reverse image of the tool shape. The tool does not come in contact with the material; only the abrasive grains contact the workpiece.

1. The excellent ultrasonic control technology can ensure the stability of long-term machining. Frequency scanning and power setting can be completed automatically by controller to improve productivity.

2. Periodical tool axial vibration decreases the cutting resistance and increases the surface quality.

4. Coolant through spindle is available for chip disposal and to reduce tool wear caused by temperature rise and cutting resistance.

5. The roughness of metal cutting surface is around Ra 0.2 µm, it reduces the polishing procedure and achieves the quality of final finishing.

6. The ultrasonic machining technology not only reduces chipping but also has the ability to process micropore machining on hard and brittle materials.
