Introduction for Ultrasonic Cutting

  • 2020-11-19

Ultrasonic cutting uses ultrasonic energy to cut objects.

An electric pulse is sent through the cutter, creating microscopic vibrations in the blade. These vibrations are so small they cannot be seen or felt. The energy from the vibrations slices through an object with very little pressure required.

Ultrasonic cutter vibrates its blade 20,000 40,000 times per second (20 40 kHz). Because of this movement, the ultrasonic cutter can easily cut resin, rubber, nonwoven fabric, and composite materials.

Robotic ultrasonic cutting is great for many different applications and provides numerous benefits over more traditional cutting methods. Ultrasonic cutting technology is quite different from other cutting techniques. Because of this, it has found widespread use in the industrial sector and will likely continue to grow in popularity due to the many benefits it provides.

Some of the most common materials cut by ultrasonic methods include:

Rubber

Frozen meat

Candy

Jewelry

Print circuit boards

Plastic

Natural and synthetic fibers

There are numerous benefits of ultrasonic cutting in industrial applications. Some of the main benefits include:

1. Compatible with most thermoplastics, can be used for many different types of materials

2. Emits less heat compared to other industrial cutting methods

3. Small footprint, easy to install, easy to operate and carry, suitable for automated

assembly line

4. Cost-effectiveness and increased consistency at the cutting surface

5. Clean, precise cuts and edges

6. Energy efficient and low maintenance and easy to clean

7. Clean and Eco-Friendly cutting

8. Compact equipment with a wide range of application
