The working principle and construction of ultrasonic cutting machine.

Working principle:

The principle of ultrasonic cutting machine is totally different from that of traditional cutting. It use the energy of ultrasonic waves to heat and melt the parts of the cut material, so as to achieve the purpose of cutting the material. Therefore, Ultrasonic cutting does not require sharp cutting edge, nor does it require great pressure, which will not cause the edge breakage and damage of the cutting material. At the same time, because the cutting tool is doing ultrasonic vibration, the friction resistance is very small, the cut material is not easy to stick to the blade. This is especially effective for cutting the viscous and elastic materials , froze materials, such as food, rubber etc., or objects that are difficult to apply pressure.

 

Basic structure of ultrasonic cutting machine:

Ultrasonic transducer: It is essentially an energy conversion device that converts incoming electrical energy into mechanical energy or ultrasound. It is represented by a transducer stretching back and forth vertically. The frequency of the telescopic motion is the same as the frequency of the high frequency AC current supplied by the generator.

Booster: The function of the booster is to fix the whole ultrasonic vibration system and enlarge the output amplitude of the transducer.

Cutting tool( horn): The cutter (tool head) on the one hand further amplifies the amplitude and focuses on the ultrasonic wave. On the other hand, output the ultrasonic wave, and the ultrasonic energy is concentrated into the cutting part of the cut material by using the similar cutting edge of the cutting knife. Under the action of huge ultrasonic energy, this part immediately softens, melts, the strength drops greatly. At this point, as long as a small cutting force is applied, the purpose of cutting materials can be achieved.

Generator: Converts the power supply into high frequency and high voltage AC current and transmits it to the ultrasonic transducer.
